19 Past 9/11

Nineteen years after nine eleven

Fighting tears, never mind forgetting

The threats have long faded into ghosts

New ones promoted with Twitter posts

A terrorist, domestically

Reflexive, narcissistically

Defective, genetically

Thousands died at the hands of a clown

Thousands more, as he adores

The reflection of his destruction

Of the envious house, he’s burned down

Can’t subtract nine-eleven from our dreams

But 45 will always be tied to COVID-nineteen
